Roughhouse was one of the hottest, up & coming "Hair Bands" of the '80s, originating out of the Philly Metal Scene! First known as "Teeze," before later changing their name to Roughhouse, the infamous band toured up and down the east coast and gained notoriety from radio requests and their 1st CD; which was released independently and sold over 40,000 copies prior to signing two additional record deals.
The band was an "over the top" hybrid of both early Twisted Sister and Motley Crue on steroids. Bigger hair sprayed mane, louder amps, tons of smoke, concussion bombs, blood spurting, spinning guitars, multi-colored shredded outfits, timed staged antics and of course, lots of makeup and screaming girls! Roughhouse's theatrical performance left fans in awe, wanting more of their energy-surged shows and killer melodic riffs which were soon to be proven, MTV top 20 chart- topping songs. In addition, their songs like "Fantasy" were featured on TV shows like "General Hospital."
Due to the success of the bands previous records, Teeze signed a major label deal with Columbia/Sony Records, and was managed by Tommy Mottola and Champion Entertainment who also managed Hall & Oates and John Cougar Mellencamp. Max Norman, the producer for acts like Ozzy, Megadeth & Grim Reaper; took the helm and recorded their debut CD. Now known as Roughhouse, the LP was set for a late September 1988 worldwide release. The group's public relations firm arranged a press onslaught with reviews, interviews & photo spreads appearing in Faces, Hit Parader, Metal Edge, Kerrang, Raw, Metal Forces, Billboard, Circus, RIP and others.
The Roughhouse tour dates continued to routinely sell out. Massive press coverage continued up and down the East Coast. Opening for acts like Eddie Money, Kix, Ace Frehley, Vince Neil of Motley Crue, Steven Adler of Guns N Roses, Cinderella, Skid Row, Blue Oyster Cult and more! The filming of the "Tonite" video was shot by Doug Freel, who also shot Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me" video.
The video "Tonite" landed on MTV's "Headbanger's Ball". Roughhouse appeared on MTV and the video started climbing the Top 20 charts.
